About Me

I am a person-centred counselling psychotherapist based in the High Peak and surrounding areas.

Experienced in working with adults, adolescents and children.

My approach is warm, empathic and caring.

I provide a calm and confidential space, giving you the opportunity to feel heard whilst exploring overwhelming emotions in a safe environment, helping you to make positive changes.

I embrace each clients uniqueness by being accepting and non-judgemental, using different approaches to meet your individual needs.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

During my degree, which is predominantly
person-centred, I also trained in:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion-Focussed therapy, Solution-focussed brief therapy, Transactional Analysis, Attachment based therpy Play therapy & Mindfulness.

I have worked for many years with young people and adolescents with disabilities, autism and behavioural problems, both in schools and in a residential setting. I have supported them with emotional difficulties, low self-esteem & anxiety whilst helping to guide them through their transition to adulthood.

Part of my training was in a primary school setting using creative mediums such as art and play therapy. Whilst there I co-ran a workshop for children experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder devised by Save the Children.

I have counselled adults at Salford University Health clinic, working with clients with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, self-harm, sexuality issues, addiction & substance misuse, trauma, bullying & historic abuse.

I also counselled in a hospice for the terminally ill where I came across end of life, carer burnout, loss & bereavement, illness and disability.

In addition to my degree I have acquired certificates, some of which regularly updated in Mental well-being in children & young people, Understanding autism, safeguarding, attachment theory, Child-on-child abuse, Equality & diversity, Data protection & GPDR. I have also trained with the Derbyshire alcohol advisory service.

I am fully insured and have an enhanced DBS which is updated annually.
